A Calling

“The LORD had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.

“I will make you into a great nation,
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you.”

So Abram left, as the Lord had told him…”
Genesis 12:1-4 (NIV)

Those of us who have adopted know what it’s like to be called into the unknown.  On one end there is us, and on the other end there is a child. What lies in between is a journey of faith by which we witness, first-hand, the providence of God.  The path is not set out before us, rather, God teaches us to wait for him to remove obstacles, build bridges and to lay each stone along the path.  For many of us, the greatest obstacle he removes is the financial burden of adoption.  You see, His heart is so heavy for the orphan that when we answer the call to “go” and bring them home, our heavenly Father moves mountains to make the impossible possible.  What a blessing for us who have seen those mountains move!
