God is able

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21 (NIV)

The above scripture was the message topic at my church this morning and, because of where I’m at, it made me think of adoption and our faith stories. When the financial path was laid before you, were you overwhelmed?  Did you wonder, “how will this be possible?” In times of desperation, we ask God to make the impossible possible; forgetting that God is able to accomplish so much more than what we ask or can imagine.  And what’s so amazing is that God WANTS to do immeasurably more than what we ask!  He’s just waiting to pour down blessings and show his generosity, if we’d just ask. 

In order to ask, we must first believe the giver is able to give us what we’re asking for. When we ask for something that only God can provide, then the world sees God’s power at work through us. God is able to do amazing things through us, and so receives the glory. He is able to provide for the orphans through us, but we must first ask.
